Recruitment

Even if you are not looking for a job at the moment it is still a good idea to keep your CV updated. It is a great record of your achievements and also an ideal document to amend as appropriate and send over to clients if they want to know about your background.

There is no right or wrong length that a CV can be but bear in mind that you do want to keep the readers interest. The overall length should aim to be 2-3 pages and it should be in a smart and professional format, make it visually pleasing and interesting. Ensure your contact details are easy to find, are up to date and that your email address is appropriate for business use, if not then set up an alternative. You need to spend some time thinking about what you currently do, what you spend most of your time on at work and what skills and expertise you have gained and can offer a prospective employer.

Your CV should have some basic structure including Name, Education and Qualifications. Then follow on with your Employment History, Training Courses/Skills, Marketing and Interests. As the CV will form the basis for the interview do make sure that you can talk at interview around the experience that you have detailed and think of recent examples. Talk positively about your experience and try and include any achievements, projects that you have led or successes that you have enjoyed. Your CV is your passport to your next job so be upbeat.”
