Traditionally a popular area of law with many Trainee Solicitors and these positions can be keenly contested at the newly qualified levels. More recently there has been an emphasis on contentious work with plenty of opportunity to hone your advocacy skills at Employment Tribunals. Other niche areas can include Employment Seminars and bespoke training, Pensions advisory work and Benefits.
In the current climate firms are seeing an increase in demand for their employment legal services from both applicants and respondents. There are a number of firms looking to capitalise on the current market, by appointing candidates at a more qualified level and ideally with a client following. With the anticipated changes in the public sector the general feeling is that the demand will continue.
